Tardis runs the Hybrid 7.0-4Imaginary1 ircd, a specially built (by Kev) debian package for the Imaginarynet irc network, based on the standard Debian ircd-hybrid package. Changes include modifications of compile-time variables such as maximum nicklength, topiclength etc, as well as a modified default config.  Hybrid doesn't natively support services, so an external services server has to be connected to the network.

bung has a cgi-irc thing set up in his space (so that it runs as him), linked from www/contact.html . Nothing interesting to note about it other than the fact THE IDENT STUFF IS NOT RANDOM. It's the IP address in hex. (I'm amazed how many times I've been told to "fix it" >:( ).

Tardis runs a server as part of the ImaginaryNet IRC network and is the only IRC network that can be connected to from tardis. The server's address is irchost.tardis.ed.ac.uk (works inside tardis but not outside) - irc.tardis.ed.ac.uk points the the IRC networks round-robin (works outside tardis but not inside).

A guide for users on how to connect to the network can be found here.

Opers

Tardis admins aren't encouraged to add themselves as opers without the consent of the other network admins.

Configuration

The server currently runs the default debian installation of hybrid (hybrid-7.2.2.dfsg.2-debian.4(SVN)).

The hub server is ginsberg.weegie.net though cowu.be is also linked to the tardis server. Currently linking between the servers in manual (FIXME?).
